New Flowerbeds

Last weekend we did a little yard work. And by "we", of course I mean Jeremy. He did a really great job. If I had remembered to take a "before" pic, you could see the sad shrub-graveyard it was. Here's a look at the new and improved flowerbeds.

Hard at work.

Daddy's helpers. Well, Dylan helped. Hens and I mostly watched and ran around the yard.

picking flowers

Dylan kept picking the flowers and bringing them to me. He'd say,"Here, momma, I picked dese for you." haha, so sweet.

Finished product! I'm so proud.

Today it's been rainy. And while normally I welcome rainy days, today I've had a touch of cabin fever. BUT since going outside isn't an option, making crafts with the kids is. Giant flowery crafts.

It started out a little like this.

Then it turned into this.

You see where I'm going…

Dylan was a regular Michelangelo.

And voila! The broom never looked so good.

Let's hope tomorrow brings more picnic weather. :)

Now, show me your happy faaaace!

Dylan Sings and Spells his Name!

Dylan's been singing "Jesus Loves Me" and spelling his name for a few weeks now. Some of you have even been personally serenaded, but for the out-of-towners who haven't, this one's for you. ;-)

A few weeks ago we all got sick. Not just any kind of sick though, we had…a stomach bug. (dum-dum-dum) It started with Hensley, then me, then Jerms, then Dylan, what can I say we love to share. It started on a Monday and was officially out of the house by Saturday. So once color was back in everyone's face we decided to celebrate. First stop: Iceskating.

Most of their lap was spent like this.

Trying to get his money's worth. Solo.

Cheering from the stands, no high kicks.

Next Stop: Frozen Yogurt at Spoons!!

I had 13 toppings. Yogurt to topping ratio, 1:2. Don't worry, the yogurt was low fat.

Jeremy's marshmallow surprise

Dylan only wanted fruit topping. Not sure who his real parents are.
After that we rented some movies that were so terrible they aren't even worth mentioning. I'll just say that Eat, Love, Pray doesn't have an ending. It just goes on and on and on…But even with our terrible movie marathon it was the BEST DAY EVER. Amen.

Excuse this House

Some houses try to hide the fact
That children shelter there.
Ours boasts of it quite openly
The signs are everywhere.

For smears are on the windows,
Little smudges on the doors;
I should apologize I guess
For toys strewn on the floor

But I sat down with the children
And we played and laughed and read.
And if the doorbell doesn't shine,
Their eyes will shine instead.

For when at times I'm forced to choose
The one job or the other,
I want to be a housewife-
But first I'll be a Mother.

Traditions, Traditions

Yes, Tzeitel, I'm talking traditions. I love traditions. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of the traditions we would do every year at Christmas. Clam chowder and junk food christmas eve before opening pj's from my parents and homemade gifts from the sibs, and pictures on the stairs before going to the living room to see what santa brought. Fun, fun, fun. Well, now it's my turn to start new traditions with my family and I get giddy at the thought. One fun tradition we're starting is an early Christmas gift to get us in the holiday spirit.

Christmas pj's, book and candy. Oodles and Oodles of fun!

Dylan was so excited to put on his pj's and read his new book before bed. :)

We also went to Christmas in the Park tonight. We just did a quick drive though, but the kids LOVED it. Dylan kept saying, "Look, Momma! I see one! I see one! " at everything he saw. For the lights that waved, (ie: snowman at the entrance) he would yell "Bye snowman!"as we drove by. Very cute.

And since I'm posting holiday pics, what's a post without a Christmas tree picture? I mean, seriously.

Merry Christmas, y'all!

one hat, two hat, pink hat, blue hat

As many of you know, I like to make hats. I like to make them even though, no one really likes to wear them. So I especially like making them for little kids who have no say in what they wear. Namely mine. I was looking through some old pictures the other day and found a really cute pic of my two favorite boys in their twinky hats I made awhile back. And then I remembered Hensley and I had taken a similar photo recently. Prepare yourself for the cuteness...

Fun fact: Both Hensley and Dylan are 10mo in these pics. Totally by chance, it wasn't planned. How bizarre. How bizarre.

Here are a few more victims.
